Friends of Webster Trails Board Minutes
Monday, February 8, 2010
Webster Community Center

Present: Hal Harris, Norma Platt, Jeff Darling, Rich Morrill, Larry Yost, Sharon Galbraith, Karen Mischler, Alisa Kokx, Craig Pratt and Greta Stephany (guest).

The January minutes were approved as submitted.

Treasurer’s Report: Craig Pratt reported the balances in the following accounts:

Checking:      4465-
Savings:        1196-
Petty Cash:     239-
Total:              5899-
Deposit 1/29/10 Savings: 85-  Balance: 1281.
Total Balance:  5983.96

Not for Profit  (501c3)

Hal and Rich met with Dave Mayer and Dave will pursue further.  There would need to be three annual reports but with less than 25K the reports would be fairly simple.  Dave will check into filing fill and will respond back to FWT.

Craig:  Google or go on the government website and find the form that not-for-profits need to file with government (how to break down expenses and how to separate dues and donations.)

Rich motioned to elect Craig as treasurer of FWT.  Jeff D. seconded the motion.  The motion was then passed.

Right now Craig is the only person on the FWT account but there should be two signatures on the account.  Don Baird can be one and the president should be on the account also.

Membership Report: There are 127 memberships.

Communications:  Rick needs all newsletter articles by mid-March in order to time the newsletter to hit mailboxes at the right time.

The FWT Annual Meeting will be the regular May meeting.

FWT will participate in Webster’s Arts Day (in President’s Message.) The date is April 10 for the Community Art’s Day.  FWT will have a 10X10 space.  Dennis will be the organizer and will need volunteers from 10 AM – 4 PM that day.  The board needs to figure out visual aids (including a poster board with trail map.)  Perhaps a laptop with slides could show the trails.  Norma will do something regarding habitat preservation.

FWT T-shirts (for volunteer recognition) should be on display.  A hand out (one pager, front and back) with membership should be available.

Alisa will develop the one page handout and will email to Don Baird.

Newsletter articles to be submitted:  March 15 deadline.

Scouts:

Ted E. forwarded Jeff some info. regarding girl scouts looking for a project.

Not much new on Hana’s project, though she assembled items and sent to Don B.  Ron has the plans from Hal and will make a materials list.

Larry will set up a time for the Gosnell committee to look at the trail regarding Ron’s project.  Hal will send map and Sharon and Normal will invite the Gosnell people.

Jeff Darling covered a list of 2010 Goals he had assembled.  The board reviewed and modified.  Norma motioned to accept the 2010 goals and Sharon seconded.  There were no objections.  The goals stand approved as edited.

Rich will chair the March FWT board meeting.

It was decided the FWT volunteer recognition shirts will be forest green with a lime green bright logo.

Jeff will keep a spreadsheet regarding volunteer hours.  Volunteers will be recognized after 6 hours total.  The must sign up on the sign in sheet.

There will be a “Fun Run” in WRNP sponsored by a church.  They will need to either stake up signs for use flour, they will need porta-potties and use the “leave no trace” concept.  They will need to get an OK for this from Mark Y.  There can be no more than 150-200 people.

The Four Mile Creek master plan was accepted.  A rail must go n the bridge.  There is a curb cut problem.

Dennis will organize the ADK, Village Days and Spaghetti Dinner.

Next meeting March 8 from 7:00 – 8:45 at the Webster Public Library.
