HABITAT PRESERVATION COMMITTEE: Alisa reported that brush clearing in the Small Meadow is completed and that a CDS group is to restore the rain garden at Vosburg Hollow.

SCOUT PROJECTS: Hal Harris will redirect Matt Miller to the first bridge in 4 Mile Creek and will contact Nick D'Ambro about the second. Alisa will co-mentor Matt.

FWT  EMAILS: questions about the Family Fun Hikes and about possible projects.

TRAILS COMMITTEE:  Work day, 9/10 very successful. 320 plus volunteer hours have been spent on the new trails in Whiting. There were 12 new volunteers on Saturday.
Jeff suggested that we pick several tasks from the goals list for the Oct. 6 work day, instead of doing just one item.  We should meet at WRNP and disperse from there. The Board agreed and directed Jeff to choose.
The 4 mile Creek parking lot still needs to be put in. Hojack rails will not be taken up this year.
Don Baird reported that McCallister Signs will do 8 “mini-map” signs for $80.00. They will also make trail name signs for $12.00. These would replace the wooden signs we use now. Discussion: should we do this? the wooden signs have beauty and traditional value. Should we switch to concrete in the post holes?
Consensus that we stay with wooden signs and use concrete in the bottom as required.
Should we enlist others to help produce the signs? Perhaps this could be done at the Volunteer Appreciation Event.
We will need 3 signs for the new trail.
Jeff proposed that that we call all existing un-named trails the Green Trail, including the mowed part in the meadow.
Rich Morrill amended this proposal to the following amendment: the mowed meadow trail will be the Brown Trail; the new completed part the Green Trail. Seconded by Craig. Motion passed.

OLD/NEW BUSINESS: There is to be a new Webster Park Master Plan. What should our involvement be? Jeff will contact Carm Gumina to ask how we can be involved.
Brochure updates: any changes needed? Get them to Alisa for consideration. Goals and accomplishments need to be updated.

Small Projects List: what should we do with this? Three groups have asked for projects: Heritage Christian, CDS and Creative Arts. These groups would like recurring tasks. We need to consider the capabilities of the groups. Board members are to review the list and be ready to discuss at the October meeting.

NOVEMBER VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION EVENT, 11/12. Liberty Lodge.
Should this be an expo, exhibits, how the signs are made? a lamberton? invasive species? accomplishments? This will be a focus of the October meeting.
Don Baird will have  McCallister make up the trail  maps at $10.00 per for the Green and Brown Trails. He will do the  GPS-ing to supply them with the information.

MEETING ADJOURNED.

Next meeting, Oct. 10, 2011, Chiyoda Community Center.
